Scott McGrath Deputy
Director, Systems & Impact

You may have seen him represent First 5 San Bernardino on TV – it’s Scott McGrath! Scott has dedicated his career to building and improving systems that maximize outcomes for children in development, early learning, health and family resilience. With nearly 15 years of experience working with First 5 San Bernardino and more than two decades of experience in the social services sector, Scott brings a unique blend of evaluation expertise, a passion for data and a deep commitment to helping children and families thrive.
At First 5 San Bernardino, Scott leads a talented team of analysts and managers focused on assessing and enhancing systems of care for young children. Scott most enjoys working with the staff and appreciates the passion, creativity and collaboration each team member brings to the table.
Scott’s career highlights include leading the evaluation and systems improvement units at First 5 San Bernardino, serving as a supervisor for research and community engagement, and contributing to the development of programs for transition-age foster youth.
Outside of work, Scott enjoys college sports, especially cheering for UCLA where his son is currently enrolled. He and his wife Vicki of 28 years have two children—one a proud graduate of UC Riverside. When he’s not analyzing data or attending games, Scott is likely reminiscing about his unique life experiences (can anyone else say they’ve driven a blimp or had a speaking role in a Japanese movie?!) and looking for new ways to make a difference in his community.
With a master’s degree in psychology from Pepperdine University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Cal State Fullerton, Scott’s educational foundation has been instrumental in shaping his career. We’re grateful for Scott’s leadership and dedication to improving the lives of children and families in San Bernardino County!
