Family. Children. Community. The three pillars that fuel Kim Browder’s passion for life are a perfect match for her work. These values shine through her personality and drives positivity with her team at First 5 San Bernardino (F5SB) where she serves as Business Support Manager.
Prior to F5SB, Kim worked for SAP Center of Excellence and Children and Family Services for three years and for the last 10 years, she spent her free time volunteering for non-profits that serve children and families in San Bernardino County. She raised $4,700 for the City of Hope Research & Children’s Hospital through hosting a walk-a-thon fundraiser, she donated crayons and coloring books for children battling cancer and she actively helps the Women for Christ Community Outreach team with distributing toys, food and clothing several times a year to children and families.
The joy Kim feels serving local families is reflective of the joy she exudes working at F5SB, where she continues to take part in helping San Bernardino County families. Her passion has inspired her career, and Kim says that the best part about working at F5SB is communicating with local families and providing them with resources and assistance. She often responds to inquiries about car seat safety, children’s literacy programs, parenting education, food and childcare assistance, transportation, emergency shelter, and more.
“It’s rewarding assisting with the resources families need when looking for help … being their channel of support,” said Browder, reflecting on her new role. “It comes full circle that our work directly affects these families and knowing that I have a significant part in supporting them makes me feel grateful.”
As Business Support Manager, Kim describes her role in three verticals. She is part of a team who coordinates and organizes day-to-day business support operations for the staff and executive team; she ensures announcements are posted to the F5SB website and agenda packets are ready for the First 5 Commission Board Meetings; and she maintains the department’s internal technology infrastructure. In short, she wears many hats and keeps business operations running seamlessly.
Kim always strives to be the best version of herself. She enjoys setting and achieving her own personal and professional goals and believes that having the opportunity to support families and county-wide agencies enable her to do so.
A new and wonderful addition to the team, Kim sums it up perfectly, “It makes me happy to see someone else happy and put a smile on their face.” At F5SB, she does just that.
