Fiscal Section Manager – Accountant III
Meet Peiyong Yang, accountant III and fiscal department section manager, who joined the organization in January 2023. With an array of accounting experience, she had been looking to join a company that supported kids, and then she found First 5 San Bernardino. “It’s a perfect fit,” Peiyong said. “I’m so proud to have a job where I get to serve young children and their families.”
Reporting to Chief Financial Officer Debora Dickerson-Sims, Peiyong’s duties include training and overseeing staff, preparing financial reports and year-end closing documents, general ledger and vendor invoice oversight, and compliance and policy management, to name a few. A CPA candidate, she also assists with budget preparation and annual audits.
Peiyong holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology, and two master’s degrees in administration and accounting from Chongqing University and the University of Riverside, respectively.
“People here are really nice … like family. I enjoy working with this great team,” Peiyong explained. Outside of work, she enjoys crafting with kids including her 6-year-old daughter. “There is nothing better than watching their eyes light up when they have created something beautiful.”
