SB in the Community, LuCretia in the Neighborhood
First 5 San Bernardino once again has been out and about in the community participating in a full slate of events thus far in 2024. On January 15, Executive Director Karen Scott joined the festivities as an honorary float participant in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Parade in downtown San Bernardino. Community Engagement Specialist LuCretia Dowdy had F5SB’s Kids Play Zone all set up at Youth Build Charter School where the parade route ended and rolled into a community fair.
Next was the All About the Children Day on January 20 hosted by Young Visionaries Youth Leadership Academy in honor of Dr. Margaret Hill, former F5SB Commissioner and legendary educator.
February 3 LuCretia represented F5SB at San Bernardino County Fifth District Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr. and F5SB Commissioner’s annual Kite Day at Ayala Park in Bloomington, and later that month at the Fontana Black History Parade and Expo on February 24.
On March 9 she attended the Fatherhood Summit at Clement Middle School in Redlands, and up next is the Easter Eggstravaganza Resource Fair hosted by West Cost Dental in San Bernardino on March 23.
First 5 San Bernardino remains steadfast to its commitment of spreading the word to parents and caregivers in the community about the importance of child health, early learning and family supports.
