Welcome to our website!

First 5 San Bernardino supports programs, activities and services that promote and support early development of children prenatal to age 5, so that they can enter school, ready to learn and thrive. Since First 5’s inception, more than a decade ago, we have improved the lives of thousands of children and their families by working with our partner agencies. Yearly evaluations show that we have made good progress in the areas of health and wellbeing, early care and education and family support.

Despite continued funding vulnerability and the recent loss of nearly $50 million from our fund balance, the Commission has remained committed to enhancing the lives of our youngest citizens and their families. An amount not to exceed $57 million for the Fiscal Years 2012/13 – 2014/15 has been approved under the Investing In Children Request for Proposals, released November 3, 2011. This funding covers the focus areas of Health, Education and Family Services.

Please attend our monthly First 5 Commission meetings, usually held the first Wednesday of every month starting at 3:30 pm in the Covington Chambers of the San Bernardino County Government Center, San Bernardino. We want to hear your opinions.
